Taka Domingo HLP Vocational Scholarship
​Description:
​
The HLP Hamakua Community Foundation is a non-profit organization that was formed to benefit the people of Hamakua. Taka Domingo was one of the original board members when HLP was established after the closure of sugar. He was an electrician and County Councilman representing the Hamakua District. The Taka Domingo HLP Vocational Scholarship was established after his death in August 2016. Graduating Seniors, Community College or Trade school students who live in the District of Hamakua are eligible to apply.

Possible trades include: welding, tourism, fire science, electrical, early childhood education, agriculture, auto body, auto mechanics, diesel mechanics, carpentry, culinary and others not listed.
General Information:

Individual award amount: $1,000. The Scholarship will be awarded when proof of full time enrollment (12 or more credits) in a trade school/community college for the Fall semester immediately following graduation is received by HLP. College students applying must be enrolled in the semester immediately following the scholarship award.

Application deadline: Complete application submissions need to be received by April 1.
