I am the third generation who experienced sugar plantation living growing up in the old Overend Camp below the Brantley Center. Upon graduating from Honoka’a High School in 1965, I attended college on Oahu. After several years as a legal secretary for a private firm, I returned to Honoka’a to start a family where life was at a slower pace.
I have held several management positions with Hamakua Sugar Company in my 22 years of service before the Final Harvest in 1994. In 2001 I happily accepted the Plant Administrator position with Hamakua Energy Partners.
I have served on the HLP Hamakua Community Foundation Board since 2004. I am an active member of the Ahahui Kaahumanu Society, Halau O Po’ohala, Kanani O Honoka’a Seniors, and have been supporting the boys and girls athletic programs, both at the high shool and youth levels. I hope that my participation at HLP Hamaka Community Foundation will contribute toward educating our youth to be future leaders and entrepreneurs in our communities.
