Lynn Higa

Chairperson

Lynn Higa is a proud member of the Hāmākua community and serves as the Scholarship Chairperson for the HLP Hāmākua Community Foundation. With a deep commitment to supporting local youth and strengthening opportunities for the next generation, Lynn brings passion, organization, and heart to the scholarship program. She works closely with students, families, and the community to ensure that scholarships uplift not only individual learners, but the ʻohana and the community as a whole.

Lynn is a dedicated early childhood educator at Kamehameha Preschool in Hāmākua, where she nurtures keiki through culturally grounded learning, Hawaiian values, and hands-on, meaningful experiences. Her work in education reflects her belief that every child deserves a strong foundation rooted in culture, identity, and aloha.

Beyond the classroom, Lynn is actively involved in multiple community efforts across Hāmākua. She has supported local events, ʻohana engagement activities, educational outreach, and cultural programming that strengthens the relationships between school, home, and community. Her work reflects her commitment to mālama ʻāina, aloha ʻohana, and uplifting the voices and needs of Hāmākua residents.

Family is at the heart of everything Lynn does. She is the mother of two sons and the grandmother of one cherished moʻopuna, who inspire her daily to serve her community with intention and aloha. Whether she is working with keiki, coordinating community projects, or supporting local families, Lynn approaches each role with humility, warmth, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact.

Lynn is honored to serve on the HLP Hāmākua Community Foundation Board and is committed to ensuring that scholarship opportunities continue to support, empower, and celebrate the young leaders of our community.
